Southampton 1-0 Chelsea
Guys I’m on fire at the moment, let’s see if I can keep it going! That’s four wins in a row now for Chelsea, and just one goal conceded in five games under Thomas Tuchel – and even that was an own goal from the otherwise fantastic Antonio Rudiger. I think the biggest threat to them against Southampton could be complacency so they’ll need to be on it from the first whistle.
The Saints are on a run of six straight defeats and it’ll be a tough one on Saturday, but they’re a dangerous side with enough quality to pull themselves out of this nosedive and get back into the top half of the table.
I’m going against recent form here with a narrow home win.
Rio recommends: Southampton to win 1-0 @ 11/1
Burnley 0-0 West Brom
Burnley’s 1-1 draw with Fulham might have seemed like a missed opportunity but they’re still keeping the teams below them at arm’s length. Another draw here will suit them quite nicely and I think that’s the most likely result.
West Brom haven’t shown me anything yet to suggest they can get clear of relegation. Ok, so they drew with Man United last time but United had by far the better of it and should have won easily. I don’t expect many chances here and I think it’ll be defences on top.
Rio recommends: Under 1.5 Match Goals @ 2/1
Liverpool 1-1 Everton
Absolutely huge game this one, it doesn’t get much bigger than the Merseyside derby! Not only that, but the two sides are 6th and 7th in the league and desperate to make up the gap to the top four. Klopp v Ancelotti on the touchline as well, two managerial legends!
Liverpool have been in freefall in the league but might be feeling better after a decent Champions League win midweek. Everton have suffered two straight home defeats to Fulham and Man City and haven’t beaten Liverpool in their last 23 attempts. With so much local pride at stake, both teams will probably be happy as long as they don't get beat.
Rio recommends: Mo Salah to Score 1st & Match Drawn @ 22/1
Fulham 2-0 Sheffield United
There are hopeful signs for Fulham, unbeaten in their last three matches which includes a great win at Everton. They’re still six points from safety but with 14 matches and 42 points up for grabs, it’s not an impossible task, they’re going in the right direction and they’ve got a great chance here against the Premier League’s bottom club.
One thing we know about Sheffield United is that they never give up, and they’ll be going all out to win here because basically they’ve got no other choice. Are they good enough though, that’s the question? I don’t think they are. After picking up four points on the road from their last two, Fulham will be feeling confident and I’m backing them to claim another important win.
Rio recommends: Fulham to Win to Nil @ 11/5
West Ham 1-1 Spurs
West Ham were the best team in London for about two hours last weekend before Chelsea leapfrogged them into 4th with a win against Newcastle. But look, the Hammers are in 5th and challenging for a Champions League spot – I love it!
Their new signings have had an impressive season, especially in recent games although those fixtures have been fairly kind to them. Will they turn up against Spurs? It’s never easy against Jose Mourinho’s teams and Jose probably has the better team at his disposal. Current form favours the Hammers though, and I’m saying honours even in East London.
Rio recommends: Match Draw @ 23/10
Aston Villa 2-4 Leicester
A West v East Midlands derby, there’s a healthy rivalry between these two and always a bit of spice! Not only that, but both teams are having great seasons so the question now is, can they maintain their form right up until the end? The Premier League is an unforgiving place and it’ll be hard going from here on in.
The first thing I think when I look at this fixture is goals. Both teams love to go forward, attack and create chances and I’ve got a sneaky feeling this could be the most enjoyable game of the whole weekend. Leicester have just got that bit more firepower though and I think they’ll come out on top in a high scoring, high-octane clash!
Rio recommends: Leicester to Win & BTTS – Yes @ 3/1
Arsenal 1-4 Manchester City
Arsenal have played well in patches this season, including in their 4-2 defeat of Leeds last time, but generally they haven’t been able to get any sort of momentum going. Aubameyang’s hat-trick against Leeds gives them reason to be confident but have they got enough to compete with this sublime City side? I doubt it.
Phil Foden and Ilkay Gundogan have really stepped it up in recent weeks, and even better news for City is the return from injury of Kevin De Bruyne. The record for consecutive Premier League wins is 18. City are now on 12 – just saying!
Rio recommends: Man City to Win 4-1 @ 20/1
Manchester United 3-0 Newcastle
Some of you might remember the famous battles between Sir Alex Ferguson and Kevin Keegan and what great days they were, but the advantage these days lies firmly with the Red Devils – you’ve got United challenging for the title, and Newcastle in a relegation scrap.
Everyone here knows what I think of Bruno Fernandes. He’s been absolutely outstanding from day one, we knew he was a player but the difference he’s made has been incredible to watch. It’s been two frustrating draws for Man United and I think they’ll be in a ruthless mood against Newcastle. I hope so anyway!
Rio recommends: Man United to Score 3 Goals @ 3/1
Brighton 1-3 Crystal Palace
Brighton v Palace has developed into a tasty rivalry over the last few years, south coast v South London, so expect a few fireworks here.
Brighton are on their best run of form all season, undefeated in six Premier League games, while Palace have been one of the most inconsistent teams in the league. Motivation for Brighton is they could go above Palace if they win, but I think the Eagles will come good when it counts, take all three points and make it an enjoyable trip home!
Rio’s recommended bet: Brighton HT / Palace FT @ 40/1
Leeds 2-0 Southampton
I’ve absolutely loved watching Leeds this season! As a former defender I’ve been hiding behind the sofa at times, but as a football fan they’re so much fun. They’re just so fearless and always stick to their principles – important in life as well as in football!
Patrick Bamford and Kalvin Phillips have really delivered this season, and for Southampton I’m looking at Danny Ings and James Ward-Prowse to do some damage. With Marcelo Bielsa and Ralph Hasenhüttl in charge there’s two big personalities and charismatic managers on the bench as well. Tough one to call this, let’s go with Leeds!
Rio recommends: Leeds to Win 2-0 @ 12/1
